NCC has approved 5G service in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Communication Commission has rounded up negotiations with Spectrum, the infrastructure companies that will handled the trial of 5G service in the country.

This will facilitate the deployment of the broadband infrastructure on which the smart service and other emerging technologies will be hosted.

According to NCC," the NCC will continue to drive and implement policies,projects and programme aimed at facilitating digital revolution and digital inclusion in Nigeria. In this regard, we have approved spectrum for the trial of 5G service in the country"

The Telecom regulator further stated that the committee to monitor the broadband implementation has already been set up and their work is to supervise the execution of the project which is a 4 years implementation project.

This had led to issuing license to six infrastructure companies (infraco) for Lagos, South South,South West, North West, North East and North Central.

The metro and intercity fibre and broadband point of access with the least capacity of 10GPS (10 gigabyte per second) will be deployed across the 774 local government are of Nigeria by the infrastructure companies (infraco).
